Hypnosis is a technique that encourages a focused state of awareness, decreases external distractions, relaxes the body, and amplifies the ability to be receptive to new information.

While in this concentrated state, you can communicate with the Subconscious/Unconscious part of your mind. This part of your mind is roughly 90% of the makeup, known as autopilot or automatic response. It’s the part that holds all your memories, programs, beliefs, and all of your experiences. It contains learned information, survival programs,  past-life experiences, ancestral coding, and primal needs.

Because the subconscious is formed before the age of thirteen and before you have a conscious mind (the remaining 10%), Your immature mind did not have the ability to make choices about what it wanted to react to; it just stored the information and then referred to that information when making decisions.  

Having access to these parts is like going into your computer system. You can find and identify dysfunctional patterns, misguided beliefs, programs that are no longer useful, and anything else that stands in the way of what you want to create. You can begin to gain a deeper understanding of the situation and have a new perspective.

Once these issues are identified, we can resolve them and begin to create new healthy patterns that are in your best interest. Hypnosis can help open a door of communication between the ten and ninety percent of your mind so that you can have all parts working together.

Frequently asked questions

Is hypnosis safe?

Yes. There’s nothing mystical about hypnosis; it’s just a fancy word to describe a technique that helps you get into a relaxed brain state. Everyone goes in and out of a hypnotic state every day. EVERYONE! It’s the moment right before you fall asleep. It’s when you miss your exit on the freeway because you were daydreaming or listening to music that relaxes you. It’s those moments when your body feels heavy and the times you hear what’s going on around you, but you don’t react. It’s sitting in a boring work meeting and then realizing you have no idea what anyone said. It’s the same space that you access when meditating. 

You can see the results from an EEG reading that shows the four brain wave states: Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta. Simply put:
-Beta state is when you are fully alert and having a conversation.
-Alpha is a relaxed state when you are doing a repetitive task or watching TV.
-Theta is right before you fall asleep or when you tune out.  
-Delta is where you are sleeping.

For hypnosis to be the most effective, we are trying to induce an upper Theta state. In this state, the mind slows, the body becomes heavy, and the focus is inward. This allows communication between the conscious and subconscious minds. Why is this an important state? Since your subconscious is the part that contains all the programs, experiences, and automatic responses, and the conscious mind is the mind that can think, process, make decisions, and analyze data, bringing the two together can have a synergetic effect on your behaviors. 

How many sessions will I need?

Each person has a unique makeup, a unique set of goals, a unique budget, and a unique set of time restraints. We will build sessions around those elements.

It’s important to note that progress comes with repetition, commitment, and a desire to change. What are you willing to put into your healing journey? 

What should I expect from my first session?

We will be doing some deep healing work; it’s important for us to build a relationship. I am so honored when a person puts their trust in me to guide them on this beautiful journey. 

I want to get to know you and find out what is getting in your way, your goals, and help you feel comfortable. I will answer any questions that you have and explain the process. From there, I will decide which direction we will go in, and we will do a little light hypnosis to give you an experience with the process. 

How do I prepare for my session?

Think about what it is you want to get out of your session. What are you struggling with? What is getting in your way? What made you reach out for help?

Take time to write down your questions or concerns and have an open mind. Struggle comes from getting in your own way, only seeing one side of things, being stubborn, and being too close to the situation to get a different perspective.

Will hypnosis get rid of all of my issues?

Hypnosis is not magic; it’s a support system. It gives you an opportunity to get into your data system and see things from a different perspective. It helps you learn to communicate differently and gives you tools to carry on your journey.

I describe it like this: we can plant a beautiful garden, but it’s up to you to decide whether to eat from the garden or run through the drive-through. It’s totally up to you! 

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?

No, that is impossible. Think of lying on the couch watching TV, and your body starts to feel heavy. Then your mind slows, and your eyes close. You can still hear what they are saying on the TV but realize you don’t know what they are saying. You have fallen into a Theta brain wave state. Then the dog barks, or the phone rings, and you immediately return to your full awareness. You may feel a little groggy as you acclimate, but you never get stuck in that state. 

Will you be controlling my mind?

No. While in hypnosis, you will be completely aware. You will be able to speak and communicate with the practitioner. You can even say no. At no time do you lose control of yourself or your ability to make choices.

Can everyone be hypnotized?

Everyone goes in and out of a hypnotic state every day, but not everyone can be induced into a hypnotic state. 

What if I can't be hypnotized? 

Sometimes, it can take several sessions for a person to be able to go into a hypnotic state. Why? Trust. You are going into a new place; you don’t know the person or what to expect. You are more likely to relax after getting to know the space and practitioner. Doing a few Life Coaching or Reiki sessions to acclimate yourself to the surroundings and the practitioner may be helpful. 

Some people don’t have to enter a full hypnotic state to be able to communicate with the subconscious. Visual people can often access without entering a deep, relaxed state.
